Oh we do like to be beside the seaside…Oh, we do like to be beside the sea… Especially if it has an award winning Blue Flag beach!
We are thrilled to announce that, once again, the Suffolk beaches of Lowestoft South Claremont Pier and Southwold Pier have won the coveted Blue Flag award!
They are among 68 beaches across England which will be flying the Blue Flag this summer after meeting the highest standards for cleanliness, good facilities and water quality.
And, if that’s not enough, Kessingland Beach near Lowestoft is also making The Suffolk Coast proud by earning ‘The Seaside Award’ by Keep Britain Tidy, which recognises beaches that are well managed and maintained. As an environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy is committed to improving the quality of the places where people live, work and holiday and the winners of this year’s awards have proved their commitment to providing the best possible beaches for locals and visitors alike.
Bucket and spade holidays in the UK are as popular as ever, especially for visitors with young children. There’s nothing more liberating than to run about bare footed on soft, golden sand, build a giant castle, paddle in the sea, or have a fun game of rounders near the shore. Now both visitors and residents of these towns can enjoy a day out at the seaside, having the peace of mind that the beaches are not only safe and clean, but also among the very best beaches in the world!
Whether you’re in search of a great family day out, a birdwatching haven, or trip back in time, the beaches along the Suffolk Coast will provide you with a memorable day out whatever the time of year.
In the winter, Suffolk's beaches take on a whole new persona; with windswept dunes, crashing waves, and bracing winds, they are the perfect place to blow away the cobwebs, stroll hand in hand with your loved one, or enjoy a solitary dog walk.
