It’s all going on in Thorpeness!

The pretty and slightly quirky village of Thorpeness is a joy to visit at any time of the year with its lovely beach, magical Meare, mock Tudor houses and the fairy-tale ‘House in the Clouds’.

But during the summer months Thorpeness virtually bursts into a hub of activities, mirth and merriment on the Suffolk Coast…

The action all takes place around Thorpeness Country Club where the team have organised a range of activities from arts & crafts, tennis coaching tournaments, rounders and even yoga. In fact, there is something for everyone in the summer programme!

Kicking off on Saturday 6th August the festivities begin with Thorpeness Village Fete. A day which promises to be fantastic fun for all the family with games, live music, all day BBQ and much more at the Dolphin Inn on Saturday 6th August from 2pm.

Next up is the Soho Theatre Comedy night - an evening of live entertainment on Tuesday 9th August, guaranteed to have you in stitches! Plus there’s a mouth-watering selection of food on offer from the Dolphin Inn.

For a great summer sporting opportunity, grab your rackets and head over to the Thorpeness Tennis Tournament. The adult’s competition takes place on Friday 12th, Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th of August, whilst the children’s version is served up on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th August and is open to ages 16 and under. Both tournaments are suitable for all levels of play.

If you fancy brushing up on your tennis playing skills, why not sign up for expert tennis coaching with former Grand Slam winner Christine Janes at Thorpeness Country Club? Christine and her daughter Amanda Janes (once ranked as Women's number two in Britain for tennis) are offering expert tennis coaching sessions on Monday 12th, Tuesday 13th and Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th September. The cost is £50 for a full day which includes a light lunch.

Back to the evening entertainment scene at Thorpeness Country Club on Thursday 18th August when you’ll need to get you’re dancing shoes on and enjoy a fantastic night of entertainment with a live Tribute Act!

The summer’s festivities culminate in the finale extravaganza of Thorpeness Regatta and Fireworks from 10am on Friday 19th August, where children and grown-ups alike will delight in this sailing spectacular on Thorpeness Meare

Enjoy a live band plus BBQ and paella pans and take your place in the beautiful Meare gardens for front row seats to the magical lit boat parade at dusk and fireworks at 9pm.

Whatever else you have planned this summer, we reckon you’ll be seriously missing out if you don’t head over with the family to Thorpeness and join in with at least one of these fabulous summer celebrations – have fun!
