The Suffolk Coast chats to the Springwatch 2015 Presenters

BBC Springwatch is back on our screens, coming live every evening from RSPB Minsmere Nature Reserve right here on The Suffolk Coast and we were invited to Minsmere to interview presenters Chris Packham and Martin Hughes-Games We wanted to find out what it was that they both looked forward to when staying on The Suffolk Coast

Martin Hughes-Games

“What comes into your head when you think of The Suffolk Coast?”

“I drove down here from Somerset on my motorbike, as I turned off the A12 I rode along the road through hawthorn-lined country roads, the sun was shining and I was following my shadow along the road, I don’t think you get that feeling of escape anywhere else.”

“What’s on your Suffolk Coast ‘must-see’ list?”

“I recently got married so my new wife will be joining me here soon so I'm looking for places to go on days out,! I’ve never been to Sutton Hoo before and am keen to do so, so will be heading there, Chris (Packham) and I are also keen aviation enthusiasts too so I am looking forward to visiting some of the museums and airfields in the area.”

Chris Packham

"What do you associate with The Suffolk Coast?"

"Rarity because of the wildlife that is here and nowhere else, migrants because of the number of migrating birds that visit, dryness because it seems to rain less here than where I live, and flavours because there are so many food experiences.”

"Where are you looking forward to exploring during your stay on The Suffolk Coast?"

“I recently went to Aldeburgh for the first time and stayed in a wonderful beach fronted hotel, The White Lion. The town was beautiful, I loved the atmosphere, the architecture and the colours, plus I was able to bring my dogs along too!”

"What does The Suffolk Coast have that nowhere else does?"

“I think in Suffolk, there is a real effort to get ahead as a community. Suffolk has composed strategies and intelligent people who have drawn up a framework to see a more sustainable Suffolk. There seems to be a real cohesive plan here to preserve and encourage wildlife.”
