It’s the time for that ‘post-Christmas day syndrome’ when we’re all feeling slightly guilty about over indulging on the food and drink during the festive break!
Many of us will be checking out local gym membership packages and fitness classes in the hope of burning off some of those calorific minces pies and brandy cream but before you head for the treadmill you might want to consider a much simpler option which is fun for all the family and completely free - walking!
The only problem you may have is choosing which rambling route to take – here are just a few ideas for starters…
An invigorating stroll along one of The Suffolk Coast’s many stretches of fabulous beaches is just the thing after being cooped up indoors. Maybe take the dog too - wrap up warm and find a beachside café for a steaming mug of hot chocolate.
Lowestoft’s award winning beach is a good option for a short route between the two piers or for a longer jaunt, head south as far as Kessingland!
On the other hand, a countryside stroll taking in the wintertime flora and fauna is a great way to exercise off those selection box chocs.
And there are dozens of routes to choose from including a stride from the fine old market town of Bungay, following the river valley to Earsham before ascending the historic Bath Hills overlooking the valley, joining the Angles Way and then dropping back to Bungay, to name but just one.
Or why not take on a picturesque ‘pub crawl’ by walking between some of the many Adnams pubs on The Suffolk Coast, stopping off for some well-earned refreshment, of course!
Once again there’s an abundance of options open to you whether it’s Southwold, Saxmundham, Snape or many more routes besides!
