The Suffolk Coast

'With Love from Suffolk'

Local grassroots organisation FILM Suffolk announces that the collaborative feature film With Love from Suffolk is now available to purchase online from Amazon.

The film is set in Suffolk, featuring locations in Southwold, Sudbury, Ipswich, Framlingham, Aldeburgh and Lowestoft.

‘With Love from Suffolk’ was produced mostly using local writers, talent and crew. It has been screening to great acclaim at the region’s independent cinemas over the past few months, and has won several awards. Its producers, Matthew McGuchan and Julien Mery, are now keen to produce another film which will once again showcase the region’s creative talent.

“Producing this film was a great experience and it has really helped create a stronger network of filmmakers in the region” explains Julien. “It was a really tough challenge working with such a small budget, but thanks to the 200 people who contributed, we managed to bring it into land”. The film has been shown last year at a dozen cinema screens across Suffolk and now it has become available to buy online.

The film received a video introduction by local celebrities such as Ed Sheeran, Emma Freud and Richard Curtis for its premiere in Woodbridge, which took place on the 15th February 2016. “It’s now been exactly one year since the premiere screening in Woodbridge, and there has been lots going on with the project since then”, says Matthew. “We took a large audience survey to find out which parts worked best and what needed reworking. We took this feedback to heart and re-edited the film, which now interweaves those eight wonderful stories to create an even more engaging whole.”

The sale of the DVDs is set to help fund FILM Suffolk’s next big-screen enterprise, which will be again a compilation of eight short stories.

“At first we didn’t think we’d have the energy to do another feature like With Love from Suffolk. But seeing all these positive outcomes, we simply had to. We will again be very reliant on input from film and TV professionals across the region. For our last feature we had tremendous engagement from local businesses and contributors, who gave money and logistical support. It is only thanks to them that With Love from Suffolk became a reality.” Julien says. “We can’t wait to get started.”

With Love from Suffolk is now available to buy on Amazon.
