Cream Tea Island at Southwold Boating Lake and Tearoom

At this quirky 1940s-style tearoom in Southwold on The Suffolk Coast, you’re always guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome.

Inside, the tearoom can seat 40 people comfortably, with far more seating available outside. Families and friends can also hire the venue for birthday parties, anniversaries, mother and toddler groups, small wedding parties, wakes and coach parties.

The Southwold Boating Lake and Tearoom is open every day from Easter to October, and serves a range of tasty hot breakfasts and lunches, and fresh homemade snacks.

True to The Suffolk Coast’s field to fork philosophy, everything from the soups and sandwiches to the scones and cakes is made using local produce wherever possible. Outside on the boating lake veranda there are some lovely Lloyd Loom chairs, which are extra comfortable on a chilly evening when you’re wrapped up warm in one of the tearoom’s fleecy blankets.

On the rear lakeside veranda there’s even more seating overlooking the beautiful lake and islands. It’s the perfect location for doing a spot of bird watching, or simply chilling out and watching the world go by.

Southwold Boating Lake and Tearooms have taken the traditional cream tea experience once step further, by serving it on one of the lake’s several islands! Stood in the middle of the lake with its willow fencing and comfortable seating for over 60 people, the island is the perfect place for you to sit back and enjoy a scrumptious cream tea surrounded by wonderful wildlife and beautiful views. Who could ask for anything more?

Children can enjoy paddle boats and the whole family can have fun on the crazy golf.
