The fresh air and relatively flat landscape make the Suffolk Coast ideal for cycling, whatever your ability.
One of our favourite routes is The Suffolk Coastal Cycle Route, a circular signed route from Felixstowe to Dunwich on quiet roads along the coast which then loops inland via the market towns of Framlingham and Woodbridge.
The full route is 88 miles (142 km) long, ideal for weekend tours, and there are many opportunities for detours and short cuts to make day rides, including off-road tracks in three forests. Much of the route lies within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
A route pack includes maps based on Ordnance Survey ‘Landranger’ series and 3 forest maps based on the ‘Explorer’ series. There is useful information about places of interest along the way plus accommodation and campsite listings.
The pack is £4.99 from Tourist Information Centres in the area or by post (£4.99 plus £1.00 p&p) from The Suffolk Coast and Heaths Unit, Dock Lane, Melton, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP12 1PE. Please make cheques payable to ‘The Suffolk Coast and Heaths Unit’.
