Emma-Jane Batey

We asked ex-pat and journalist Emma-Jane Batey why Suffok is such a special place for her.

I love the Suffolk Coast because there’s something so honest about the area. It’s beautiful but also brilliant – loads to do without being pretentious.

My favourite spot has to be a bracing walk along Lowestoft beach, sharing a bag of chips from the Claremont Pier with my husband.

My happiest memory of the coast has to be running around the grounds of what was the Sparrow’s Nest theatre in Lowestoft during rehearsals for Sleeping Beauty.

Sitting on Southwold beach in the very early morning is my favourite view, watching the sun come up with a flask of hot coffee.

Oysters from Orford are pretty special, failing that, any hot salty chips on any Suffolk beach!
