Fancy doing something a little bit different? Take a tour of the Adnams Sole Bay Brewery and Copper House Distillery in the heart of Southwold where Adnams have been brewing since 1872. If Gin is your favourite tipple the 'Make your own Gin Southwold' experience is a must!

Behind the walls of a stunning Victorian building on East Green lies one of the most modern breweries in the UK. In 2010, Adnams added a micro distillery too, so why not immerse yourself in an Adnams tour or experience while you are in town.

Brewery Tours

Discover how your favourite beers are brewed, with an Adnams Brewery Tour. Led by an experienced Tour Guide, you will be immersed in all things Adnams and given an insight into what makes their beers so special. You will get to look behind the scenes in the brewery and follow the brewing process from grain to glass. You’ll explore Southwold’s rich brewing heritage and see first-hand how Adnams make their products today.

Each tour is followed by a tasting of various beer styles, including a selection of their best-loved brands, and any current seasonal releases or limited-edition collaboration brews available at the time of your visit.

This fun and informative experience lasts approximately 1.5 hours. At the end of your experience, you will receive a voucher for the Southwold store, to claim a free memento of your day.

Distillery Tours

Discover how your favourite spirits are crafted with an Adnams Distillery Tour. Led by an experienced Tour Guide, you will be immersed in all things Adnams and given an insight into what makes their spirits so special. You will get to look behind the scenes in the Copper House Distillery and follow the distillation process from grain to glass.

You’ll discover and explore in detail, how they make their award-winning vodka, gin, and whisky in the beautiful copper stills. You also get some of the best views in Southwold from their panoramic distillery windows, so don’t forget your camera!

Each tour is followed by a tasting showcasing the spirits range, including a selection of their best-loved brands, and any current seasonal releases available at the time of your visit.

Make your own Gin Experience

Craft a bespoke bottle of gin that’s tailored to your taste, with an Adnams Make Your Own Gin experience. The Southwold Make Your Own Gin sessions take place in the Gin Lab, located at the heart of the Copper House Distillery.

During this fascinating experience, an Adnams Gin Maker will guide you through the process of making your own unique bottle of gin. Following a short tour of the Copper House Distillery to see the full-sized operation, they will scale things down to their mini copper stills and teach you the secrets of distillation.

You will learn about how to craft a great tasting gin, from balancing a wide variety of flavours and aromas, to understanding the influence of the distillation process. They will help you develop your own recipe from a wide selection of provided botanicals and you will go on to distil, fill and name your personal bottle. The experience also includes a tasting session showcasing Adnams spirits range, including a selection of their best-loved brands, and any current seasonal releases available at the time of your visit.

This exciting experience lasts approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. As well as the opportunity to create your own full-sized, 70cl bottle of gin to take home with you, you'll also be given an Adnams goody bag and a voucher for the Southwold store, to receive a free memento of your day.
