Beacon Rally Karts

Four kart sizes, three tracks, one excellent day out.

Beacon Rally Karts is a great place to enjoy fast, furious, four-wheeled fun. Head out to Beacon Farm in Martlesham, close to the Suffolk market town of Woodbridge and you’ll be warmly greeted by Phil and Louise Abbott; owners of the farm and the karting circuit. They moved to the farm in 1992, started the racing business and have never looked back since.
Their three large outdoor dirt circuits range in size and difficulty: the 150 metre track is where younger drivers can dip a toe into the racing waters, while the 350 and 750 metre tracks are designed for older drivers. They mix fast corners with tight hairpins and exciting chicanes to keep you on your mettle, and a lapse in concentration will swiftly find you in the tyre walls. However, safety is a priority, and a team of marshalls, plus protective gear and thorough training on how to drive the karts, will keep you safe.

Providing the speed are British-made Gemini karts which come in four sizes so everyone from 5-75 is able to get behind the wheel. The adult sized karts have a top speed of around 35mph which doesn’t sound too fast, but you’ll soon find there is a world of difference between travelling at that speed in a family car and the exhilaration of doing it in an open framed kart, sitting just inches from the ground.

The best way to enjoy karting is with friends and family, and Beacon Rally Karts caters for all sorts of outings including birthday parties, stag and hen dos, and corporate events. Every racer is tracked by an advanced computerised timing system and gets a print out at the end of the session, so you’ll have hard evidence to back up your bragging rights.

Of course, there doesn’t have to be a special occasion to go karting. You can always just arrive and drive, though calling in advance is always recommended. They are open seven days a week during the school holidays and at weekends in term time, though there is a winter break when the weather makes racing too dangerous.

Food is available from a hot barbecue to ice creams in the track side pit stop cabin. Because they run off road they cannot run for safety reasons on a wet track. Most major credit cards and debit cards accepted.
