Discover Landguard

The Landguard Peninsula is located at the southerly most point of the town of Felixstowe. 

Explore the rich military and maritime heritage of Landguard Fort, one of England's best-preserved coastal defences, with a history spanning almost 450 years. At the neighbouring Felixstowe Museum, discover the fascinating artefacts and collections which bring alive the military and social history of this seaside town.

Surrounding the Fort and Museum is the vegetated shingle habitat of the Landguard Nature Reserve, with its rare plants, migrating birds and military history. Go bird-watching, take a cycle ride or stroll along the beach. Our feathered friends here are all recorded by the Bird Observatory housed in a former military building.

A trip to Landguard is not complete without visiting the Landguard Visitor Centre and View Point Cafe, located at the John Bradfield Viewing Area. This warm and friendly building has fun hands-on displays, videos and exhibits on the attractions of the Peninsula, public toilets and a 60 seater cafe (with both indoor and outdoor seating) serving all day breakfasts, snacks, fresh fish and chips and ice cream. Relax and enjoy the spectacular views over Harwich Harbour and the Port of Felixstowe - Britain's busiest container port.
