A Night at the Theatre

The Suffolk Coast has an enviable reputation for hosting great arts and culture events.

And if a night at the theatre is right up your street, there’s bound to be something you’ll love to see happening this autumn...
Lowestoft has three active and very different theatres – all putting on a wide variety of shows, concerts and plays. The Marina Theatre, in the heart of Lowestoft, welcomes West End touring shows, tribute bands, comedians and the world renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Just round the corner from the Marina Theatre is The Players Theatre. Run by award-winning amateur theatre group, The Lowestoft Players, this intimate venue hosts regular musicals, a Christmas Spectacular and a variety of concerts. Right now you can see Spamalot – the Monty Python musical that is lovingly ripped off from their film ‘Monty Python and The Holy Grail”.

The third theatre in Lowestoft is The Seagull, which plays host to a regular stream of local talent, regional and national touring theatre companies. It is also the home to many resident companies including their own touring theatre company - The Seagull Rep.

Forthcoming productions at The Seagull include Some Enchanted Evening – a musical revue, Tina’s Proverbial Cabaret Show and A Night at the Musicals with The Tigerlilys.

In Bungay, the Fisher Theatre presents a packed programme that includes Music Showcase, ShowTime Nights and The Runaways. And there’s also a regular cinema offering many of the latest popular films.

Heading south to Halesworth and The Cut Arts Centre. This 220-seat venue presents live shows and cinema throughout the year. Coming to The Cut soon is the UNICEF Concert, Cut-Loose Poets, Kingfisher Sinfonietta and Cymbeline.

Aldeburgh Music at Snape Maltings and Jubilee Hall, Aldeburgh, sees local talent mix with international stars to bring you an eclectic mix of music including a Public Masterclass with the Bartok String Quartets, The Trianon Choir & Symphony Orchestra, Verdi Workshop and Shakespeare into Song.
From Friday 22nd - Sunday 24th October, Britten Weekend features a variety of dance performances celebrating the music of The Suffolk Coast's most famous composer.

And finally to the Spa Pavilion at Felixstowe...

For over a hundred years the Spa Pavilion has presented a variety of shows. Situated right on the sea front, it continues to be popular with locals and holidaymakers alike. Coming soon – The Simon & Garfunkel Story, Talents of Britain, Fame, Ultimate Bowie and Marty McDonald’s Toy Machine.

Theatre on The Suffolk Coast is alive and kicking! There is so much to choose from – whatever your taste. Get your tickets booked and have a great night out at the theatre!
