Shopping for the best Christmas fayre can also be an excellent opportunity to explore some of the lovely towns, villages and countryside in Suffolk where the food and drink producers are based. However, if time is of the essence take a trip over to the Suffolk Food Hall where you’ll literally find everything you’re looking for (and probably much more!) under one roof.
Suffolk Food Hall is packed with quality butchers, a delicatessen, fishmonger, bakery, greengrocer, wine and beer merchant and even a chocolatier! After a morning of shopping, stop by the Cookhouse Restaurant for a delicious roast dinner or festive afternoon tea
At Snape Maltings, not only can you get all you need for your Christmas dinner, but whilst you're there, you can pick up a few last minute Christmas presents too. Selling a wide range of jams and marmalades, honey, chocolate, olives and pickles - perfect for your Boxing Day buffet! The Christmas Farmers Market on the 23rd December is also not to be missed, with some of Suffolk's finest food producers selling their festive wares including meats, breads, cheeses, Christmas puddings and fudge.
2. Fruit and Veg
Giddens and Thompson Greengrocers of Bungay, will ensure that your turkey is accompanied by the highest quality locally produced seasonal vegetables. They also offer a weekly veg box scheme which can conveniently be picked up or delivered within the Bungay area.
3. Cakes, Pastries and Bread
There is nothing more seducing than the aroma of freshly baked bread, cakes and pastries. On The Suffolk Coast we are spoiled for choice with amazing bakeries…
The Two Magpies Bakery, located in Southwold’s High Street is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike.
The freshly baked bread, cakes and pastries on offer at the award winning Cake Shop Bakery, in the historic town of Woodbridge are baked in-store each morning. Treats include raspberry and creme patisserie brioche and steak and ales pies, plus you can buy a bag or two of freshly roasted coffee, courtesy of The Firestation Cafe, Bar and Coffee Roasters next door!
Last but by no means least, be sure to stop by Pump Street Bakery; a small, family owned bakery & café in the village of Orford, in addition to the tinned breads, sourdough, buns and rolls, you can add a bar (or two!) of their mouth-watering chocolate to your basket!
4. Cheese, butters and cream
For delicious dairy delights, look no further than Fen Farm Dairy!
Farmed for three generations by the Crickmore family, their herd of happy Montbeliarde and Friesian cows graze the beautiful marshlands of the Waveney River Valley in Suffolk and it’s here that their delicious raw milk is made into the finest cheese, raw cultured butter and raw cream – the perfect partner for rich sauces and desserts.

Enjoy a delicious Christmas breakfast of smoked kippers, or treat your nearest and dearest to freshly caught oysters.
In their shop, located next to Butley Creek, you can also buy a range of crab cakes, potted crabs or angels on horseback plus pickles, chutneys, flavoured oils, jams, jellies and smoked olives - the perfect adornment to any festive feast!
