Cactus & Chilli Festival at The Urban Jungle - 24th - 26th August

A three-day celebration in the exotic surroundings of the Urban Jungle near Beccles. The Cactus & Chilli Festival showcases hardy and interior cacti, succulents, agaves, yuccas, and other desert lovers, with some rare and unusual species too plus 100s of brightly coloured chillies, of all shapes, sizes and heat!
Throughout the weekend there will be chilli inspired dishes to try with RocketShip Sauces, cocktails, workshops, events and a big Bank Holiday Sunday party!
Suffolk Craft Society Summer Exhibition - Until 26th August

The Bank Holiday weekend is your last chance to see the annual Suffolk Craft Society Summer Exhibition at Peter Pears Gallery in Aldeburgh. New makers, as well as established favourites, have created unique, contemporary hand-crafted pieces inspired by the landscape, coastline, rivers and skies of Suffolk.
Outdoor Theatre at Sutton Hoo: Edith in the Beginning at Sutton Hoo - 24th - 26th August

Make the most of those warm summer evenings by soaking up some incredible stories of amazing people, in the location where they took place, Sutton Hoo! Edith Pretty is famously linked to the discovery of the Sutton Hoo treasure. But there was so much more to this remarkable woman.
Staged on the porch of Mrs Pretty’s home, Tranmer House, Stuff of Dreams Theatre Company will be staging three outdoor performances of the new play 'Edith in the Beginning' by writer Karen Forbes at 7.30pm across the Bank Holiday weekend.
Live Music at The Alex - 25th August

Enjoy dinner over a glass of wine and listen to live music from 'Words and Music' at The Alex Cafe Bar & Brasserie.
Take a trip down memory lane, as they cover classic songs from the 60’s including hits from The Beatles, The Who and The Rolling Stones. Take advantage of the Happy Hour which is available daily across the Bank Holiday from 5pm-7pm and choose from the full summer cocktail menu and the Cocktail of the Week at £5 all day, every day.
Listening Walks at Snape Maltings - 24th & 25th August

Immerse yourself in the sounds of the River Alde's estuary and join sound artists for this unmissable Listening Walk from Snape Maltings. Exploring Snape Maltings’ remarkable natural environment, the Listening Walks take place on Bank Holiday Saturday and are guided by sound artists and field recording professionals Mike Challis and Meg Amsden.
The walks include an hour of intense listening as you walk along the bank of the River Alde, alternating between silent listening and discussions of what has been heard. As part of the Snape Proms series, two walks take place daily; 4pm ‘Pre-Prom’ which are timed to get you back in time to eat before the evening concert and 7pm ‘Sunset’ Listening Walks for visitors not attending the evening concert.
Summer Theatre: Hobson's Choice at Southwold Arts Centre

Playing at Southwold Arts Centre from 20th - 31st August, MTP presents Theatre on the Coast presents 'Hobson's Choice'.
One of the great classics of the British stage, Harold Brighouse’s immortal Lancashire comedy is given a sparkling fresh revival, translated from the late 1890s to 1958, in a new production first seen last year in the playwright’s 60th anniversary.
Theatre on the Coast is a Southwold summer staple, with Hobson's Choice being the last in a series of fantastic productions taking place this summer - don't miss your final chance to see this fantastic theatre company live!
Oulton Broad Gala Day 2019

The whole family can head to Nicholas Everitt Park for the Oulton Broad Gala Day on Bank Holiday Monday (26th August) for live music, displays, motor boat racing and fireworks.
A variety of stalls will be on offer for you to peruse, along with food vendors and a bar; all within the picturesque surroundings of the Edwardian park, situated on the banks of Oulton Broad.
On the water there will be the noise and excitement of racing from Lowestoft and Oulton Broad Motor Boat Club as well as the annual Maiden in Distress competition and don't miss the finale; a spectacular firework display at 9.00pm fired from a pontoon on the Broads.
