If you’ve ever wanted to find out more about Southwold, or simply have an hour or two to spare of an afternoon, then we can thoroughly recommend a trip to Southwold Museum.
Owned and managed by the Southwold Museum & Historical Society, and housed in a small cottage in the heart of the town, Southwold Museum is home to a varied and outstanding collection of objects, paintings, photographs, models and wildlife exhibits.
The museum offers visitors the chance to explore the rich natural and cultural history of the town and its surrounding area, telling the story of Southwold from its first prehistoric visitors to the bustling coastal community it is today.
The museum first opened its doors in 1933, and has since undergone a significant refurbishment project, bringing the visitor experience into the twenty-first century with improved access, an enhanced exhibition space and interactive displays.
Located in Victoria Street, just off the High Street, the museum is open 2-4pm everyday from Good Friday till the end of October. Admission is free, although donations are welcomed.
