Justin and Miranda Elliot's Suffolk Coast Secrets!

For all you BBC Radio 4  'Archers' fans, it’s out of the bag, never mind Justin Elliott’s love affair with Lillian - Aldeburgh on The Suffolk Coast is one of Justin and Miranda’s favourite places, providing them with that vital London bolt hole and a second home that’s up for grabs as part of their impending divorce settlement!

Over the years, despite Justin and Miranda’s jet set lives in the fast lane of 'Damara Capital' and 3-day eventing, The Suffolk Coast is where they’ve kicked back to enjoy stunning scenery, big open skies, fabulous food, art, music and culture.

Here’s the inside story of what they get up to in Aldeburgh!

As we all know Justin & Miranda’s love of the good life makes Aldeburgh the perfect place to recuperate; fabulous hotels, cottages & guesthouses, great restaurants, bars & cafes all meet Miranda’s exacting standards, able to give Grey Gables, Lower Loxley and Ambridge Hall a run for their money any time!

Despite their differences the couple share a love of culture and the arts – this year will be the last Aldeburgh Festival they attend together, providing some wonderful performances and welcome distraction from the tussles to come.

Justin’s love of the theatre, demonstrated at Christmas with his sterling performance in another legendary Lynda Snell Production, makes him a huge fan of the Suffolk Summer Theatres, which run in Aldeburgh and Southwold through the season, not to mention the odd trip along the coast to The Marina Theatre in Lowestoft and The Spa Pavilion in Felixstowe. Not forgetting the brilliant films and live screening on offer at Aldeburgh Cinema and The Riverside Theatre in Woodbridge.

Miranda as a former 3-day eventer has been spotted on several occasions riding her beautiful Arab horses Amir and Aziz along the golden sands at Lowestoft, rumour has it she stables them at Pakefield Riding School when she visits.

Of course, it’s not all been plain sailing as their soon to be divorce shows – word on the beach is that Justin’s attempts at canoodling with the odd chambermaid at The BrudenellWhite Lion Hotel and The Wentworth Hotel haven’t gone unnoticed by the locals or by his estranged wife!

Although Miranda comes across as all fine dining and fur lined knickers, locals know there’s nothing she likes more than grabbing a bag of Aldeburgh Fish and Chips with a pint of Adnams and stuffing her face on the beach, sheltering by Maggi Hambling’s Scallop Sculpture!

O&C Butcher Outfitters always come up with the goods whenever clothing, accessories, and footwear have been left in town, they’d rather serve Justin than Miranda any day!

Picnics in the gardens of The Red House, listening to Britten, watching the fishermen bring their catches up onto the beach as the sun rises, eating the freshest lobster and drinking champagne, doesn’t get more romantic than that, it’s been wasted on the frosty Miranda, but we know someone who’ll lap it all up – Lillian we can’t wait to spot you!
