For the second year running the bustling seaside town of Lowestoft will be hosting its Summer Festival from 9th to 24th July.
The organisers of the 2016 Lowestoft Summer Festival are blending many of last year’s successful events and activities with some brand new family entertainment too.
Opening the Festival on Saturday 9th to Sunday 10th July is the return of the Street Velodrome which was a particular favourite with both participants and spectators. The weekend long programme promises to be packed full of racing and cycling entertainment. Why not have a go at one of the taster sessions on Saturday when members of the public are invited to experience riding the velodrome?
On Sunday 10th July the completion heats up a bit when men, ladies and children will go head to head to find the fastest local riders!
If you’re heading for Lowestoft Town Centre on Saturday 16th July, don’t be surprised if you come face to face with a Ninja Turtle! They’ll be out and about helping shoppers to turn detective and discover the Lowestoft turtles…
Located in shops and services in and around the town centre, these 18 turtles each represents a country from around the world. Use the Turtle Trail map to write the name of each country in the relevant place and you and your family could be in with a chance of winning £1,000! And, don’t worry if you can’t take part on the 16th as the event runs right though to 4th September.
New for the Summer Festival this year will be entertainment taking place during the last weekend on Lowestoft’s Royal Green – 23rd and 24th July. Visitors can look forward to exhibitions, stalls, a dog show, and arena entertainment, including the finals of Lowestoft’s Got Talent!
After the annual Sandcastle Competition on Sunday 24th July, hosted by the Lowestoft Lions, comes the walking Parade on the Prom. An exciting end to wrap up the summer festivities!
