Situated just a few steps away from the sea in Aldeburgh, the Brudenell Hotel has introduced a seafood calendar celebrating the wonderful fresh catch available on its doorstep.
Changing each month, menus will feature dishes focusing on a seasonal fish or seafood that is ethically sourced.
These seasonal shifts are exciting times for the hotel’s Head Chef, Ben Hegarty, since each brings in different tastes and flavours to work with. Currently its mackerel but from April protein packed bass comes into its own and from May its John Dory.
Shellfish will feature in the summer with prawns, crab and lobster but come September oysters take over; then it’s the turn of skate and flat fish ending the year with more meaty varieties such as monkfish in December.
Choose your fish dish from the à la carte menu, which is offered for lunch or dinner in the hotel’s AA two rosette Seafood & Grill restaurant; here you can enjoy the freshest catch as you look out to sea through floor-to-ceiling windows. On warmer days dine on the sea facing terrace and savour an unhurried meal to the gentle sounds of waves breaking on the seashore with the sun on your back. From Monday to Friday you can also order from the Aldeburgh Menu, which features the fish of the month and offers just two courses with a glass of house wine for just £19 per person or three courses for £23.
