2019 is a momentous year for Aldeburgh Cinema, as August 9th is the Centenary of the Cinema's opening.
There is a fun-packed year of events planned to mark this milestone, as well as offering the very best in world and mainstream cinema, Aldeburgh Cinema is a local treasure!
In November the cinema will be marking a second milestone - the 25th Anniversary of the Aldeburgh Documentary Festival, a unique event to Aldeburgh, so there is much to look forward to!
As well as superb films, Aldeburgh Cinema also shows live broadcasts from the National Theatre and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, in addition to hosting events for the Aldeburgh Festival and the HighTide Festival. Every November the Cinema’s annual Documentary Festival plays host to some of the documentary world’s most acclaimed storytellers and commentators. Throughout its history guests have included Sir David Attenborough, Nick Robinson, Joanna Lumley, Asif Kapadia, Louis Theroux, Kate Mosse and many more!
The garden has been tented this year, so is another perfect venue for a coffee or glass of wine and a sit down, before coming to a film or when buying tickets.
The Cinema is also Aldeburgh’s Visitor Information Centre, hosts Snape Maltings Box Office and is the Box Office for Jubilee Hall. So if you’re stopping by drop in for a friendly chat with one of our volunteers, a cup of Paddy & Scott’s freshly ground coffee, and all manner of maps, trail guides, cycle routes and more!
