Blackdog Antiques and Events

Blackdog Antiques is set at the top of the historic Market Place in Halesworth. Built around 1570 the Grade II* listed property is the perfect setting for the eclectic mix of antiques, vintage and mid-century modern pieces that it houses.

The attractive market town of Halesworth is just 9 miles from Southwold and the Suffolk Coast. The town has a pedestrianised Thoroughfare featuring lots of small independent businesses but head towards the church and you will come across the Medieval Market Place where Blackdog Antiques can be found.

The beautiful Tudor building has undergone major restoration and is a treat to see. Inside you will find antique pine and mahogany pieces, mid-century modern industrial, vintage tools, pictures, taxidermy and lots more.

A Blackdog Event Ltd is an offshoot of Blackdog Antiques and was created soon after Blackdog moved to the Market Place in Halesworth. The there have been regular markets held in the Market Place since it received its Royal Charter in 1220.

Blackdog Events holds four specialist markets in the historic Market Place over the course of the year. Starting with the Spring Garden Market at the end of  April, followed by the Midsummer Market at the end of  June. The Food & Drink Market on the first Saturday in October, which is a fringe event to the Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival and celebrates local food & drink producers. The final market of the year is the Traditional Christmas Food, Drink & Artisan Market on the second Saturday of December.

On the antiques front, Blackdog Events holds a monthly Brocante Antique & Vintage Fair in the Old Print Works on the first Saturday of the month from March - December. With thirty-five Brocanteurs attending each month, there is an ever-changing array of antiques, vintage and collectables on offer.

The Grand Brocante at Glemham Hall made its debut last year in May and will take place again this year on Sunday 19th May and again on Sunday 22nd September.  This very popular event has 80 plus Antique and Vintage Sellers, an independent Food Village, Music and a display of Classic Cars.

The Bungay Antiques Street Fair is in its 23rd year and will take place on Sunday 21st July. With 70 plus antique and vintage stalls,  a separate food court showcasing local producers, buskers and street food it makes a good day out.

The final event of the year is the Halesworth Antiques Street Fair which is now in its 27th year and really was the founder of this kind of event in East Anglia.  Around 80 Antique & Vintage dealers sell at the fair, which is held in part of the Thoroughfare, The Old Print Works and the Market Place. There is also Street Food and Music and many of the shops open on the day.
