12Pm at Artspace

Exhibition of original prints

Twelve Printmakers is a well established group of East Anglian artists, first formed in 1984. They will be exhibiting handmade prints at Artspace in April featuring the work of 12 artists from Suffolk and Essex.

Much of their work depicts the local area and is popular with both locals and visitors looking for artworks connected to the coast.

The aim of the group is to produce high quality hand-made images using a wide range of fully recognised print-making techniques, both in limited editions and as one-off unique images. All the prints are conceived and carried out by the artist working directly on the block, plate or screen from which the print will be made.

The group is based on the Essex/Suffolk border, with close links to the Gainsborough House Print Workshop in Sudbury and the Colchester-based print studio at Cuckoo Farm. The artists meet on a regular basis to exchange ideas and plan for exhibitions and have shown extensively in East Anglia and London. Their work is held in private collections, both in the UK and abroad.

The artists will be exhibiting a diverse range of hand-made original prints encompassing a fascinating variety of technical approaches with subject matter including abstraction, myth, natural forms and local landscapes. Their relationship with the local landscape is a particularly strong theme and viewers will experience our passion for this subject through lino prints, cyanotypes, screen prints, etchings and mono prints.
