ABOVE BOARD Album Launch Performance with the Rogue Shanty Buoys

The Rogue Shanty Buoys are an authentic sea shanties group who sing sea shanties and other sea songs with an energetic and passionate delivery that will captivate, entertain and educate.

The group are based in rural Suffolk and hail from Lowestoft, a town with a cultural history rich in the tradition of seafarers; fishermen, mariners and sailors.

The Rogue Shanty Buoys have recently been filmed for the forthcoming channel 5 series ‘Sailing Round Britain’ where they sung sea shanties to Michael Buerk and John Sergeant, teaching them songs for their journey round Britain, with Michael saying “I really don’t want to leave now! Just stay here listening to you guys”.

In a rare chance to see the group locally - on Sunday 15th July, they will be hosting a concept performance, at the launch show performing tracks from their forthcoming album ‘Above Board’ at the 15th-century mariners' church St Edmunds in Kessingland in an atmospheric candlelit night. The evening will feature alternative arrangements of tracks from the album, stories behind the songs and presentations about the research the group have conducted as well as a Q&A session.

Tickets for the event are £2 each in advance and £3 on the door with £2 being reimbursed to anybody who purchases a copy of the album which will be available on the evening ahead of the official release in August.

A donation from the sale of every album will be given to both RNLI Lowestoft and the Fishermen's Mission.
