Beginners Photography Workshop

Learn how to take compelling landscape photographs on the banks of the River Deben. This half day workshop is lead by Gill Moon and takes place at Bawdsey Quay and includes coffee and cake at the Boathouse Cafe.

If you are new to photography and would like to know how to get off auto and get to grips with your camera then this workshop is for you.

Centred around the River Deben in the little hamlet of Bawdsey Quay, the workshop will begin with a coffee / tea and cake at the Boathouse Cafe on the Quay. There will be the opportunity to chat about camera settings and the basic theory behind taking a photograph in aperture priority and full manual mode.

The rest of the session will be about putting theory into practice, working with the beautiful landscapes around the river and beach.

This workshop is aimed at beginners who are using an SLR camera. It is intended as a starting point and we will cover the basics to give you a good grounding and enable you to go away and continue your photographic journey away from your camera’s automatic modes.
The session will cover:

- Aperture, ISO and Shutter speed and the exposure triangle

- How to take an image in aperture priority, shutter priority and full manual.

- How to focus correctly

- How to see a landscape photograph and how to use the rules of composition to create an image worthy of hanging on the wall.
