Claire Barnett-Jones in Concert

Mezzo soprano Claire Barnett-Jones, who won the Audience Prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition 2021, delves into the Society of Women Musicians, founded 1911, for a fascinating recital exploring this exciting time in women's history.
A powerfully dramatic talent, Claire was a Finalist and Winner of the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize at BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2021. She has been researching The Society of Women Musicians, founded in 1911 to bring composers and performers together and to provide a space for discussion. Here she sings songs by some of the members and presidents, including Rebecca Clarke, Liza Lehmann, Ethel Smyth and Imogen Holst, alongside readings of the letters they wrote each other in an enthralling exploration.
