Final Fling - Long Shop Museum

Celebration of activities and steam

The Long Shop Museum will once again mark the end of the season with a spectacular celebration of steam on Sunday 27th October. Final Fling is our annual steam and activity day with full size and miniature engines being demonstrated in all their working glory. It runs from 10am to 4pm and highlights how the museum’s site in Leiston’s former Garrett Engineering Works, was a hub of industrial production with the design and manufacture of a prolific and diverse array of magnificent machines. The lovely Consuelo Allen’, the Museum’s own 1923 Garrett steamroller and our famous Suffolk Punch Steam Tractor will be on display. Activities for children, a prize draw, and further attractions to be announced.
There will be a range of visiting exhibits large and small and the unique Robey Showman’s traction engine. Visitors can look around the Museum’s original Garrett Works buildings and exhibits. Don’t miss the Final Fling of 2019, a static and moving pageant of engineering history – and a steamy affair!
Ticket prices are £8 / £5 and annual passes will not be valid for entrance on event days. For details of this and other events at the Long Shop, go to
