GritFest A Celebration of Lowestoft's Long Lost Beach Village

Sunday 27 May 2018 from 10.30am until 4pm at Sparrows Nest Gardens, Lowestoft NR32 4AL
It’s a free fun-filled family day out celebrating THE GRIT, Lowestoft’s forgotten fishing village. The day will be presented by Dean Parkin.

Grand Opening at 11am.

The Most Easterly Singalong poetry, stories & songsDance Workshop:

The Scots Girls led by Dance East Traditional Sea Shanties Ropes, knots and boats with the IBTC Grit Knit, Quilt Making & Postcard Printing lots of food & drink - Featuring local produce including kippers & bloaters from Waveney Valley Smokehouse, cockles & mussels, wet fish and Happy Welham’s homemade lemonade

SPECIAL GUESTS Lowestoft’s own Zeb Soanes, BBC Radio 4 broadcaster, introduces & signs his new children’s book ‘Gaspard the Fox’ with illustrator James Mayhew

PLUS Grit artist-in-residence Paula White Jack Rose Tribute & Grit

Talks: Colin Bannister on herring, Ivan Bunn on the floods, Dorothy Stewart on the fisher girls Archive & new Grit Films in the Studio Theatre Lighthouse Tours Lowestoft Maritime Museum’s Scavenger Hunt
