Come and discover Bawdsey Radar in Suffolk, where operational radar was developed that helped win the Battle of Britain, as part of Heritage Open Days 2019.

Discover the stories of the women and men who worked in top secret in the years leading up the war in though an exhibition, displays and a boffin trail.


The restored 1937 Transmitter Block is filled with the stories and voices of the women and men who worked at Bawdsey before and during the Second World War and helped develop operational radar. The threat from aerial bombing in the First World War was very real - could Britain develop a technology that could make the difference between failure and a decisive victory?
