Opera-Lele

The internationally renowned Opera-lele are set to perform a charity gig at Southwold Arts Centre after local resident, Chris Thompson, won a Facebook competition for the duo to perform at a venue of the winners choosing.

Chris, who lives in Southwold said, ‘I don’t often win anything and didn’t think I had a chance! I saw them twice at Halesworth Arts Festival and to say I was excited to win was an understatement. After getting over the initial surprise, I decided that I’d share it with others and the proceeds from the concert will go to local charities.’

Chris follows Opera-lele as she is a keen member of The Ukes of Southwold, along with her daughter Clare. The twelve strong local amateur ukulele group meet once a week and play gigs around Suffolk including Southwold Arts Festival, Halesworth Day of Dance, and several charity gigs throughout the year. They will be supporting George Bartle and Amanda Harkett - the Opera-lele line up - and are busy choosing and polishing up their set for the night.

Opera-lele has rapidly established itself as an innovative and exciting act with a unique blend of comedy and music, specialising in tunes from opera and musical theatre accompanied by the emotionally powerful yet understated twang of their ukuleles!.
