The Sacconi Quartet, formed in 2001 at the Royal College of Music, has earned many distinghuished accolades for their compelling and stylish performances and is join in this recital by the reowned clarinettist and conductor, Michael Collins.

Daily Telegraph described The Sacconi as a quartet of “genuine substance” known for its fresh and imaginative approach enjoying a successful international career regularly travelling in Europe, playing at major venues in London, featuring on radio and television.

They have been engaged in some exciting projects with new works with the composers and given twenty-two world and four British premières, performed Paul McCartney’s hit song Come Home and joined on stage by many world class artists including Vladimir Ashkkenazy.

It is a group which has become known throughout the world for its creativity and integrity of interpretation.
Michael Collins studied at the Royal College of Music in his early teens and at 16 won the woodwind prize at the BBC 1978 Young Musician Competition. His career took off . He is increasingly turning to conducting but his standing as a clarinettist is undoubted and he is considered one of the most prominent clarinettists of the day.
