The Trio Con Brio Copenhagen clearly occupies a lofty perch in today’s musical scene. They are active in the vibrant contemporary music scene in Scandinavia and several works have been written for them and dedicated to them.

Programme: Haydn, Piano Trio in G major Hob XV:25 Gypsy; Smetana, Piano Trio in G minor op15; Schubert, Piano Trio in B flat major D898.

Established in Vienna in 1999, they have become a leader in international chamber ensembles receiving outstanding reviews for their concerts in Europe and in the United States of America.

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, the trio consists of the Danish pianist Jens Elvekjaer and the two Korean sisters Soo-Kyung Hong, his wife, and Soo-Jin Hong.

Since winning the main award at the prestigious German ARD International Music Competition in 2002, they have not looked back, winning numerous awards and playing in concert halls around the world. The group is one of only four recipients of the coveted Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award, resulting in appearances in 20 major concert series across the U.S., including at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. They have earned top honours in numerous chamber music competitions.

The performers have each also won top prizes in international solo competitions appearing as soloists with orchestras and festivals worldwide.
