Suffolk Day Community Marketplace

Open House at the Long Shop Musuem

The Long Shop Museum is delighted to announce that it is once again taking part in the County’s biggest celebration when it opens its doors for FREE on Friday the 21st June as part of the Suffolk Day festivities! The museum is housed in some of the Victorian former factory buildings of the former Garrett Agricultural Engineering Works, including the iconic Long Shop itself, built in 1852-3. The Long Shop was one of the world’s first ever assembly lines and was a hub of industry and innovation in an otherwise rural setting. Come along to find out more and have a great day out with the whole family.
As part of the Suffolk Day celebrations, the museum will be showcasing a wide range of fantastic local charities, projects and community groups, together with information sources from in and around Leiston. Giving this whole event a truly community based feel.
Come along and discovery what is on offer in Leiston and the surrounding area, we are sure you will be amazed at just what is available to everyone.
We are delighted that Leiston WI will be joining in, once again by serving homemade cakes and light refreshments in our pop-up café.
Our unique 'Suffolk Punch' steam tractor will be in steam and join us for what will be a truly memorable celebration of our proud county of Suffolk.
