The Suffolk Walking Festival 2020

With over 120 walks, explore Suffolk’s hidden gems, with lots to do in the Spring Half Term!

Join in during the National Walking Month of May for the 13th annual Suffolk Walking Festival, now established as one of Britain’s biggest and longest running walking festivals.

Last year’s festival left an incredible 29 million footprints over 23 days across the county!

There are over 80 family friendly and fringe events at some of Suffolk’s most iconic and spectacular locations, a launch at Clare Castle Country Park on 9th May.

Discover the Romans and Normans, and learn about the Cold War at Bentwaters. See Ed Sheeran's favourite castle and where he filmed the video for his hit 'Castle On The Hill'. Sail to the mysterious Orford Ness, meet Kite the Sheepdog (and his shepherd Andrew), walk with the Ranger, and this Island of Secrets will be revealed! Or sail down the River Orwell on an Orwellian Adventure.

There's a photography scavenger hunt, photography and art workshops; a swift nest box trail, and a charity dog walk (with breakfast). Go into the woods for a twilight safari, a campfire make & bake and a wild crafts walk or follow in the footsteps of Beatrix Potter and meet Jemima Puddleduck, with lots more in between.

The Challenge Walk (16th-20th May) is brand new - 'Go West' a 5-day circular walk from Newmarket back to Newmarket spanning over 70 miles using iconic trails - the Icknield Way, River Lark Path, Bury to Clare Path, Stour Valley Path and Kind Edmund Way.

Tickets available from early March 2020 via Subscribe to the Suffolk Walking Festival newsletter at, and follow the Festival on Facebook.
