Originally an old 18th century malting house
The Malthouse, originally an old malting house dating from the 18th century, is located in the heart of Woodbridge and overlooks Ferry Quay and the river Deben.
To make the most of the river views, the Malthouse is an ‘upside down’ house sleeping up to 5 people. Pets welcome and children over the age of 15 years.
The Malthouse is within easy walking distance of Woodbridge’s wide range of pubs and restaurants, shops of all shapes and sizes and cinema and indoor heated swimming pool and gym complex.
The house is adjacent to the railway station (about 14 trains a day of one to three carriages) enabling visits to London, Cambridge, Norwich and Ipswich. There are various bus services too but it is important to check the timetables as some journeys do not always return on the same day.
The Malthouse is attached to an old store on one side and a quaint little office selling small river craft on the other – neither are noisy and bustling with activity!
The accommodation has two allocated parking spaces where there is one step up onto a path in the small enclosed front garden which leads to the front door. This front garden has high walls on two sides and a 5 foot fence on the other two giving visitors complete privacy. This enclosed front garden has a patio area with garden furniture in a private sun trap corner, together with some mature shrubs in tubs and pea shingle to the remaining area.
The front door leads into an entrance hall off which, to the right, is the bathroom with WC, wash basin and a bath with electric shower over. To the left, is a cloakroom cum utility room with the washing machine, tumble dryer and a fridge with icebox and a back door with two steps down into a second garden area which is mainly laid to grass and enclosed by 6 foot fence panels and ivy hedge.
From the entrance hall, 5 stairs with a handrail take you down to two bedrooms – one with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds. Both bedrooms have adequate clothes storage in small built-in wardrobes, chest of drawers and bedside tables.
Again, from the entrance hall, 9 stairs with a handrail take you up into the main open plan living area of the Malthouse which has a built-in kitchen section with electric cooker, microwave, a slimline dishwasher and a second fridge with icebox. Ample cooking and dining equipment are provided.
There is a dining table and chairs and the living area has comfortable soft seating, a large flat screen TV which receives Sky, and a DVD. The wifi router is located on the telephone table in the corner of the room. There is a radio but stations can also be listened to via Sky on the TV.
12 open tread stairs with a banister lead up from the living area into the single bedroom in the pointed roof – there is no door closing this room off but it is the most popular bedroom due to the views down the river!
