Wilford Apartment - National Trust Sutton Hoo

A cosy two-bedroom apartment in Tranmer House, set in 245 acres of fascinating history at National Trust Sutton Hoo.

Wilford is a second-floor apartment based in Tranmer House, on the Sutton Hoo estate. Inside it has an elegant Edwardian interior with a modern twist. It was here that the famous archaeological dig was ordered during the 1930s, in which an Anglo-Saxon ship was discovered.

The accommodation comprises of a long hallway leading to large kitchen/dining/sitting room, two bedrooms (1 double with 5' bed, 1 twin) and bathroom with shower attachment over bath.
NB: there is an external flight of stairs to the main entrance lobby to all 3 apartments, from which a further internal staircase leads to Kyson and Wilford apartments on the second floor.

You can see some of the royal treasures uncovered on display in the Exhibition Hall beside the King's River café, which is just a short stretch away. You'll be able to enjoy walks on the open heath and woodland of the estate and down to the River Deben. You can also learn more about the history of the estate at the burial grounds and Exhibition Hall.

Beyond the Sutton Hoo estate, lies the beautiful Deben Peninsula home of Bawdsey Radar and the Suffolk Punch Trust. Rendlesham Forest is just a 15-minute drive, the Suffolk coast is close-by, with Orford Ness National Nature Reserve a 20-minute drive. On this wild and remote shingle spit, you'll discover an abundance of wildlife and fascinating 20th-century military history.

All guests enjoy free access to any National Trust property for the duration of their stay in one of their holiday cottages.
