The Crown at Woodbridge

2AA Rosette restaurant and bar recommended in the Michelin Guide serving the best of Suffolk produce with contemporary style and care.

Situated at the top of the bustling Thoroughfare, in Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Whether out with friends for a casual evening or a more formal dining occasion, The Crown’s relaxing and stylish interior, including the impressively adorned bar with a hanging Windmere skiff, offers a comfortable and unique experience.

Very much focusing on the quality of their ingredients, whether its local shellfish sourced from the River Deben or foraged herbs from surrounding hedgerows, head chef Ben Hegarty and his team offer locals and visitors to the area a hearty taste of modern British cooking.

Their popular bar serves a well-balanced and extensive wine list alongside a variety of local beers and contemporary cocktails, all within the historic walls of a thriving 16th century coaching inn.

Woodbridge’s famous resident, Thomas Seckford, once frequented the inn and it is said that many important decisions were made here about his work in the town. Other prominent figures have also passed through the establishment. During the 19th century George IV and the Duke of Wellington would stop at The Crown and change horses when on their way to Sudborne Hall near Aldeburgh.
