The Dolphin Inn

At the heart of Thorpeness The Dolphin Inn enjoys a great reputation among the locals for food, drink and friendly service.

The Dolphin Inn is a small family owned and run business, which puts the local community at the heart of it’s operation.  As well as welcoming everyone to the bustling restaurant and delightful rooms, the Inn runs the local ‘Village Stores’ nestled next door – a real hub of the community!  Big supporters of local charities and causes they run a full programme of great events and activities all year round for locals and visitors alike to enjoy!

The Dolphin prides itself on using fresh local ingredients including meat from the local butcher in Aldeburgh, fish directly from the markets in Lowestoft sourced only from sustainable stocks, bread is from the famous Pump Street Bakery in Orford, vegetables grown locally from a greengrocer in Leiston and milk from a local dairy.

It doesn't stop with food as the bar also boasts some great local names. Aspall not only makes the vinegar you put on your chips but is much better known for its award-winning cider! You can't come to Suffolk and not have a pint of Adnams brewed just up the coast in Southwold, or a glass of their award-winning Copper House gin.

The style of food reflects Modern British cuisine but with the focus being on using locally sourced or home grown produce. The service is efficient yet relaxed and informal with the ethos being ‘why rush – you’ve got all day!’

Happy to cater for all dietary requirements – there are always veggie options on the menu and Head Chef, Chris Theobald is very adaptable to individual needs. Menus change frequently as new produce comes into season.

The Dolphin Inn is the perfect place to head to after a bracing coastal walk with family and dogs, bike ride or just to relax and unwind right by the beautiful Suffolk sea!
