Fancy doing something a little bit different? Enjoy the ultimate Adnams and Southwold experiences, with a tour behind the scenes of our brewery and distillery or a tour up our beautiful lighthouse. Take it one step further and make your own bottle of gin or cocktails.

Behind the walls of a stunning Victorian building on East Green lies one of the most modern breweries in the UK.  In 2010, Adnams added a distillery too, so why not immerse yourself in an Adnams tour or experience while you are in town.

Brewery Tour

Discover how we brew our award-winning beers on an Adnams Brewery Tour. Led by an experienced Tour Guide, you’ll look behind the scenes and follow our state-of-the-art brewing process from grain to glass. You’ll also explore Southwold’s rich brewing heritage, with documented brewing on our site going right back to the fourteenth century.

Each tour concludes with a tasting of various beer styles, from pale ale and lager to stout, bitter and barley wine, all made in our Southwold brewery. This fun and informative experience will last approximately 90 minutes, after which you’ll be given a voucher to claim a free memento from our Southwold store.

Distillery Tour

Get into the spirit of Southwold, exploring the Adnams Copper House Distillery on our five-star-rated Distillery Tour. Your guide will make the science simple, showing you first-hand how we produce vodka from barley and other grains and then re-distil it with botanicals to create our award-winning gins. You’ll also enjoy stunning views of Southwold from the panoramic distillery windows – cameras at the ready! You’ll then head to the tasting bar for some tutored spirit sampling, including five Adnams gins and our world-beating Longshore vodka.

The tour and tasting session last around 90 minutes, after which you’ll probably want to head to our Southwold store to claim your free memento and take advantage of your 10% discount voucher!

Whisky EXPERIENCE

An in depth, grain-to-glass exploration of the Copper House Distillery and Adnams’ role in the burgeoning world of English whisky. Ideal for whisky enthusiasts, this experience includes a guided tour through the brewery, the distillery and the whisky dunnage with an expert guide.

You will learn how the flavours and aromas in our finished whiskies are influenced by each stage of their production, including the selection of our grains and our casks, and the wealth of ingenuity and innovation employed in our sustainable processes.

Following the tour, you’ll head to our tasting bar for a 45-minute tasting of six world-class English whiskies, where the guide will teach you the art of tasting and take you through our award-winning range.

Make your own Gin Experience

How do you like your gin? Fruity, spicy, herbal or floral? Become a distiller for the day and make a bottle of gin that’s tailored to your taste. You’ll start with a short tour of the Adnams Copper House Distillery to see how we produce our award-winning vodka and gin. Then we head to the gin lab where you’ll be introduced to your own mini-still. An expert guide will help you choose from over 30 botanicals to create your own unique recipe – you’ll even give it a name! While it’s distilling, you’ll also enjoy a tasting session from our range of gin, vodka and whisky.

The Make Your Own Gin experience lasts approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. After distilling your own full-sized, 70cl bottle of gin, you will also receive a 10% discount voucher for our Southwold store – after all, you might want to buy some tonic!

Lighthouse Tour

Immerse yourself in a fascinating history and enjoy breathtaking views on a tour of Southwold Lighthouse. Built in 1890 and still in operation, the lighthouse is a beautiful blend of form and function, providing an aid to navigation and standing proud on the Southwold skyline. Reaching the top means climbing 113 stairs and there’s no lift, but you’ll be more than rewarded for the effort. The views of sea, sky, townscape and countryside are hard to beat, even on a stormy day!

The tour lasts an hour, after which you’ll receive a 10% discount voucher to use in our stores – maybe you’ll need some refreshment after all that climbing!

Cocktail Discovery Masterclass

On this grain-to-glass experience, you will discover how our award-winning spirits are made and then get to enjoy them in a selection of creative cocktails at our beautiful Still Room bar.

This fun and informative experience starts with a tour of Adnams Copper House Distillery, where you’ll learn all about distillation and how we craft a wide range of spirits including vodka, gin, and whisky. Then we shake things up - it’s over to The Swan Hotel’s Still Room for an exclusive cocktail masterclass with our in-house mixologist. There you’ll be taught how to make three exciting drinks from their repertoire of classics and seasonal specialities. You’ll learn all their tricks so you can try them at home.

It’s a must for any budding mixologist, and an exciting group activity for celebrations, special events, or team-building activities.
