Iken Canoe

Iken Canoe hires out Canadian canoes, sit-on-top kayaks and stand up paddleboards (SUPs) on the stunning upper reaches of the River Alde between Snape and Aldeburgh, close to the Suffolk coast. A Cornish Shrimper sailing boat is also available for charter.

Use of equipment can be hired for up to 2 hours (longer hire can be organised by special arrangement). All craft are suitable for a wide range of skill levels and are ideal for couples, groups or family outings.

There are also two 'Katakanus' - very stable 6-person canoe-catamarans for families or friends.

Buoyancy aids, paddles and dry bags are all included. Iken Canoe will also provide you with a full safety briefing, a map and suggestions as to where you might explore while on the river.

On its 18-mile journey down to the sea from Snape Bridge, the SSSI-designated River Alde passes some of the most significant coastal marshland sites for birds in the country. Avocet, marsh harrier, curlew and god-wit are often seen, as well as many more species including common seals. We ask all customers to respect the river environment, the wildlife and habitat.

Iken Canoe is open between April and October.
