Suffolk River Trips

Suffolk River Trips operate river trips, with commentary, from three locations in Suffolk; Snape Maltings Quay, Orford Town Quay and Woodbridge Town Steps.

River Trips from Snape

River trips from Snape run between April and October and will either be aboard Tilly Too which carries 12 people or our launch Hagar which carries 10. The trip will take 45 minutes and winds through one of the most beautiful areas of Suffolk. Snape is tidal so times of trips will vary - please see the website for exact dates and times. Hagar is shallow draft and can get out a bit earlier on the tides which has proven very popular with birdwatchers who like to see the birds wading.

River Trips from Orford

The trips from Orford are aboard either Tilly or Kitty and head downriver around the RSPB reserve at Havergate Island and back to Orford Quay passing close to the fascinating secret area of Orford Ness. These trips last about one hour and both Tilly and Kitty take up to 12 people each. Trips from Orford are not governed by the tide and run at regular times most days of the week between May and September, please see the website for further details.

River Trips from Woodbridge

Jump aboard Gina from Woodbridge Town Steps and explore the upper reaches of the beautiful river Deben gaining a sailor's view of the picturesque town of Woodbridge, passing the historic site of Sutton Hoo en route. Gina carries up to 12 people and trips last approximately 45 minutes and will be running between May and October. The river Deben at Woodbridge is tidal so times of trips will vary - please see the website for exact dates and times.

All locations are designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and rich in flora, fauna and history. For the birdwatchers among you, we will see at various times of the year avocet, curlew, marsh harrier, buzzard, osprey, bittern, peewit, kingfisher, little egret, spoonbill and many others. At Orford and Snape there are resident populations of common seals who frequently pop up near to the boats.

Tickets cost £15 for adults and £9 for children (14 years and under).

Dogs are welcome on all Suffolk River Trips boats.
