Visit Wickham Market

Wickham Market is a thriving heritage village and friendly, connected community set in the beautiful countryside of the historic Deben Valley, under the vast skies of East Suffolk.

Close to Framlingham Castle, Woodbridge and Sutton Hoo, Snape Maltings music, festivals and arts hub, and the coast and beaches at Aldeburgh, it’s an ideal base for visiting and enjoying life near the Suffolk Heritage Coast.

The spired tower of 14th century All Saints’ Church dominates the Suffolk skyline – but it’s not the only thing that put Wickham Market on the map over the centuries. The medieval village grew up around markets on ‘The Hill’ – a square now lined with independent and specialist shops, together with an intimate Saturday market and four large seasonal markets with live entertainment.

Once an important staging post on the London to Great Yarmouth turnpike road, the village also saw its Victorian engineers export award-winning goods worldwide, leaving many legacies within the community. Discover where young WWII evacuees and Spanish Civil War refugees found a most welcome safe haven.

Sit for a moment and drink in the warm atmosphere and rich history of The George community pub and hub, and enjoy a meal at one of the cafes and restaurants.

Take a heritage walk from the village (there is plenty of pay-and-display parking) or come by bike and explore the area.
