200 Years of Suffolk Art
An Exhibition exploring the legacy of John Constable over the last two centuries
The exhibition will explore the development of painting in Suffolk from the time of John Constable to the present day.
On display will be pictures from the 19th century by Thomas Churchyard of Woodbridge, John Moore of Ipswich, the Smythe brothers and George Thomas Rope.
Edward Seago, Harry Becker, Leonard Squirrell and Cavendish Morton will represent the 20th century.
Recent works by Graham Crowley, Kate Giles, Julian Perry and other contemporary artists will show that Constable’s influence is still strong.
Alongside the loan exhibition a selection of paintings will be offered for sale, many on behalf of private collectors: a catalogue will be available to purchase.
