A book launch with a difference!
See two rare films of old Suffolk
Come and see:• 1980 film A Writer’s Suffolk, written and narrated by George Ewart Evans
• 1955 film Here’s a Health to the Barley-Mow, filmed at Blaxhall Ship
• author of Where are the Fellows who Cut the Hay, Robert Ashton in conversation with Nick Corke, CEO of Framlingham charity Hour Community
Many of you will be familiar with the books George Ewart Evans wrote about rural life, and one or two of you might even be grandchildren of those he interviewed. Robert Ashton’s latest book Where are the Fellows who Cut the Hay was first published in 2024 and builds on those that Evans wrote 70 years ago.
The book sold well in hardback and was long-listed for a Wainwright Prize in 2024 and shortlisted for Suffolk’s New Angle Prize in 2025. To celebrate the March launch of the paperback edition, Leiston Book Festival CIC, of which Robert is founder, will be showing two films and talking about the book, at the Castle Community Rooms in Framlingham, at 2pm on Sunday 29th March.
The event will also be a fundraiser for Framlingham charity Hour Community and tickets cost just £5.00 per person.
