Aurora Orchestra and Chloë Hanslip

Enjoy Aurora’s signature concert experience with a dreamy orchestral programme of memorised Mendelssohn, alongside Prokofiev’s second concerto with violin superstar Chloë Hanslip.

Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte exudes classical elegance before subtly warping into something uncanny and dreamlike. Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.2, written as he prepared to return to the Soviet Union after years abroad, takes the audience into darker territory, with unease and foreboding looming.

Finally, Mendelssohn puts the audience back at ease with his uplifting “Italian” Symphony, which speaks to the long days of the Mediterranean summer. Get under the skin of the music with a short introduction by Principal Conductor Nicholas Collon.
