Britten Weekend: Study Morning

To mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War and the liberation of Auschwitz, Dr Lucy Walker and Dr Simon Callaghan reflect on art born from atrocity.
Join Britten Pears Arts for a morning of talks, music and reflection to explore musical works created in violent and devastating circumstances, and consider both their context and legacy.

Dr Lucy Walker is a scholar and public speaker on classical music. Her particular expertise is the operas of Francis Poulenc and she has written many programme notes and articles on his music. She has given numerous talks and curated many exhibitions on Britten’s life and music for Britten Pears Arts, and has written extensively about the composer. She is currently co-editing a book of essays on Elizabeth Maconchy.
