From Taverner to Today: A 500th anniversary celebration in a programme that includes music by the choir’s first master John Taverner, through to more recent works by William Walton and Nico Muhly.
An undisputed choral masterpiece of the 16th century, John Taverner’s Western Wynde Mass was based on a haunting, bittersweet Middle English folk song. Here it sits alongside music from the 20th and 21st centuries, including Nico Muhly’s brand new The Shadow of The Sun, a multi-movement exploration of how poetry, art, and especially glass can act as a membrane between the visible world and the divine.
