Felixstowe celebrates Heritage Open Days from 14 to 20 September 2026, inviting visitors to explore the town’s rich past. A week of free events offers access to historic buildings, guided tours, displays and family activities, revealing stories of its civic, maritime, military and community heritage across Felixstowe’s memorable local landmarks

Heritage Open Days returns to Felixstowe from 14 to 20 September 2026, offering a week of free events that celebrate the town’s distinctive history and architecture.

Visitors will be able to explore historic buildings, discover rarely seen collections and hear stories connected with Felixstowe’s civic, military, maritime and social heritage. Participating locations include Felixstowe Museum, Landguard Fort, Martello Tower P, Reade House and Felixstowe Town Hall. The programme also features historic photographs in Hamilton Road shopfronts and a final opportunity to visit the pre-war 7th Felixstowe Scout Hut before it is dismantled and relocated.

Guided tours, archive exhibitions, children’s activities and knowledgeable volunteers will bring local history to life for residents and visitors of all ages. Most activities will be free, although advance booking will be required or recommended for selected tours. The full programme provides an opportunity to appreciate Felixstowe’s buildings, communities and changing character.
