INK Festival

The UK's leading producer of original short plays.

INK Festival is the UK’s leading new short play festival, celebrating bold storytelling and performance. Each year it selects dozens of original scripts from hundreds of submissions, showcasing fresh voices through professional productions, community events and creative workshops in Halesworth, Suffolk.
The INK Festival celebrates its tenth birthday between April 16th and 19th by turning the town of Halesworth, Suffolk into a giant stage. Over four fun-packed days the curtain rises on 70 brand new short plays performed in pubs, theatres, barns, the food bank, bowling club, town square and even on the local bus. In the evenings, the famous Cut Theatre welcomes stars such as Hugh Bonneville, and comedy from Alistair McGowan, Jan Ravens and Jon Culshaw. It’s like a mini Edinburgh festival except a whole lot cheaper and much more accessible.

What makes INK so unique is the magic mix of performers and art. There really is something for everyone. The UK’s most exciting poet Luke Wright headlines the poetry bill. Suffolk Shorts presents the best new films from East Anglia. And INK actors read sparkling tales from the BBC National Short Story Award. Learn the secrets of how the sex scenes are shot in Bridgerton, join a writers’ workshop, find out what a voiceover artist actually looks like, or enjoy any number of family activities. It’s impossible to be bored.
