Isolde Films presents Nocturne - What's On - Aldeburgh, Suffolk

This December at Aldeburgh Cinema, join Britten Pears Arts in welcoming Nocturne a film that explores Britten’s uneasy relationship with a troubled wider world, examining the role of the artist in society and the nature of creativity itself.

Completing the trilogy of films that Palmer made about Britten, Nocturne focuses on Britten’s song cycle of the same name, with footage of a specially filmed performance by the English Chamber Orchestra.

It uses this work as a frame to explore the composer, and includes interviews with a number of Britten’s close friends, making this both an insightful and deeply personal portrait of the composer.
