John Constable, His Friends and Family - An Exhibition of Paintings and Drawings

A look at the life and influence of John Constable through 50 pictures

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of John Constable, Suffolk’s most famous landscape painter. He achieved a world-wide reputation through his pictures of the English countryside, especially depicting the Stour Valley between Essex and Suffolk
The exhibition features original drawings and watercolours by John Constable through various periods of his life and artistic development. Works by Constable's family and the artists associated with him will be on display, including his son Lionel, his grandson Hugh and his great, great grandson Richard as well as Ipswich artist George Frost.


The Exhibition is open Tuesday to Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.
