Jubilee Goes Global presents Buena Vista Social Club Night by the Edgar Marcias Quintet

A Latin jazz quintet take on Cuba’s biggest band with lively rhythms and soulful flair.

UK-based Venezuelan pianist Edgar Macias has become a highly regarded performer known for his versatility across genres ranging from jazz to salsa. Over the course of his impressive career, he has collaborated with acclaimed artists such as Wynton Marsalis, David Murray, Scott Hamilton, and Bobby Wellins. This evening, he presents a special tribute to the legendary Cuban ensemble The Buena Vista Social Club. The group and their Grammy Award–winning 1996 album achieved global acclaim, selling over 8 million copies.

Joined by Chris Bowden (saxophone), Tom Hill (bass/vocals), Miles Levin (drums), and Néstor Pedrales (percussion), Edgar offers his own interpretation of the iconic record through fresh Latin jazz arrangements of its timeless songs.
‘A superb quintet (…) who collectively created a compelling mix of Cuban percussive rhythm and jazz improvisation on what was a careful thoughtful crafted re-arranged intoxicating project’. ‘(…) a stand up ovation from a packed enthusiastic audience’
